Ludovic Rifford obtained his doctorate, which he prepared under the supervision of Francis Clarke, at the\u00a0Universit\u00e9 Lyon 1\u00a0<\/em>in 2000. After holding assistant professor positions at the\u00a0Lyon 1\u00a0<\/em>et\u00a0Paris-Sud\u00a0<\/em>(Orsay) universities, Ludovic Rifford took up a professorship at the\u00a0Universit\u00e9 Nice Sophia Antipolis\u00a0<\/em>in 2006 (recently renamed the\u00a0Universit\u00e9 C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur<\/em>). During his career, he has been interested in various problems at the interface between analysis, dynamics and geometry. He has largely contributed,\u00a0inter alia<\/em>, to major advances in two important conjectures of sub-Riemannian geometry (the so-called Sard conjecture) and Hamiltonian dynamics (the Ma\u00f1\u00e9 conjecture). He is the author of fifty or so articles and a monograph, and counts two Fields medallists (C\u00e9dric Villani and Alessio Figalli) among his regular co-authors. In addition, Ludovic Rifford was a junior member of the\u00a0Institut Universitaire de France\u00a0<\/em>from 2011 to 2016, Eisenbud Professor at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, Berkeley in the autumn of 2013 and Distinguished Guest Professor at the Center for Mathematical Modeling at the University of Chile, Santiago,\u00a0from February to August 2015. Deeply involved\u00a0in cooperation activities, he served as Executive Director of CIMPA from September 2016 to September\u00a02020 and has been Secretary for Policy of the Commission for Developing Countries of the International Mathematical Union since January 2023. Currently, Ludovic Rifford holds a CNRS-AIMS Chair under the CNRS-Africa Joint Research Program for the period September 2023 – September 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
