AIMS Senegal graduate gleans PhD Scholarship in Astrophysics

Last June 15, 17 students from eight African countries graduated from AIMS Senegal. The graduates (35 per cent women) from Cameroun, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Niger, Senegal and Sudan obtained Master’s degrees in Mathematical Sciences after completing 10 months of course work and research at the centre located in Mbour.

Eunice Monyenye Omwoyo from Kenya is one of the laureates of our seventh Cohort: “I came to AIMS with a Bachelor’s degree in Education Science. My experience at AIMS has been a nice one. I got the chance to interact with world-renowned researchers”. Shortly after admission at AIMS, Omwoyo, was selected as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar owing to her leadership skills and her commitment to giving back to the continent. The 26-year-old has no doubts about her next steps: “Thanks to AIMS, I have a scholarship to go and take my PhD in Brazil in Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitation – it has been my dream”.
