Born in Kenya, Eunice’s childhood dream was to become a scientist. She was especially passionate about mathematics and physics. After high school, she enrolled for her undergraduate studies at the University of Nairobi where she earned a B.Ed in Mathematics and Physics. Her passion for the universe led her to become a member of the Supernova Foundation, where she hopes to rise to the position of mentor to coach young girls.
She joined AIMS Senegal in 2018, immediately becoming a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, where she pursued the 10-month Structured Master’s program in mathematical sciences. After graduating from AIMS Senegal in June 2019, Eunice gleaned a scholarship to pursue a PhD in Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitation at Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Brazil; a giant step taking her closer to her passion – the universe.
During her undergraduate studies, Eunice was actively involved in campaigning against female genital mutilation and early marriages for young girls in her community, an endeavour she hopes to pursue in the years ahead.
